Early Life

Pregnancy and Birth

On March 11, 2013, Josh and Anna announced on the Today show, then via Josh's Twitter, that they were expecting their third child.[1] Josh commented on the pregnancy, saying, "It is very exciting. It's fun for Michael and Mackynzie being so close in age and this baby will be, too. We feel very blessed and happy." Anna had recently taken a negative pregnancy test, and commented, "I thought for sure I was pregnant and so I was a little disappointed. But two weeks later, I found out I was pregnant. I got sick overseas and then when I returned home, I was then into the morning sickness. But now, I have more energy than I ever had before." Josh and Anna broke the news to Josh's family with the assistance of Josh's cousin, Amy, by preparing a family meal of baby carrots, baby corn, and baby cherry tomatoes. Josh's father, Jim Bob, commented saying "Josh and Anna are great parents. It is neat to see their family expanding."[2] This is featured on the 19 Kids and Counting episode "Baby on the Way", which aired on April 2, 2013.

On April 1, 2013, Josh and Anna announced that they were having a boy. The couple find out through a surprise planned by their sound man, Jim, who had the family's friend, Pastor Howard, relay the information in a church service at Restoration Church.[3] This revelation is seen on the 19KaC episode "Baby Gender Reveal & the Final Weigh In", which aired on May 21, 2013.

On June 2, 2013, Anna gave birth to her third child, Marcus Anthony Duggar, at the home of a nearby midwife. Josh's sisters Jana and Jill Duggar were there to assist as well. He weighed weighing 9 lb. 3 oz. "Mackynzie and Michael are thrilled to welcome a little brother, and we are so thankful that mom and baby are well. We are blssed to have our family close as we celebrate this gift from God!" Josh said in a statement to the Today show. "It's not really about the number of children you have, but how well you are doing with the children that God has given you. We're really just going to take it one at a time. I don't think you can say we're going to set out and say we're going to have five kids or four or three. We have no control over that. God has the control."[4]

On June 16, 2013, the 19KaC episode "GrandDuggar Makes 3!" is aired, which focuses on Marcus's birth.

2013-2014

In June of 2013, only weeks after Marcus was born, he moved to Oxon Hill, MD, with his family so his father could start a new job working for the Family Research Council. He and his family lived in a 5 bedroom, 4 bahtroom home. The 19KaC episodes "Big Changes" and "An Emotional Goodbye", which aired in September of 2013, feature this move. While in the Washington, D.C. area, the family appeared to reach out and befriend a lot of the locals.

On December 3, 2014, Josh and Anna announced they were nine weeks pregnant with their fourth child. [5]

On May 21, 2015, a magazine article revealed that Michael's father, Josh, had molested five girls as a young teenager. Both Josh and Anna Duggar, along with Josh's parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggarreleased statements on the Duggar family's Facebook page. In the official statements, the family attempted to assure the public that Josh had received treatment for his past indiscretions and was no longer acting out in this way.

On June 9, 2015, Michael's family was seen moving back to Arkansas, where Josh's family lived.

On July 16, 2015, TLC announced that they had cancelled 19 Kids and Counting, meaning that for the first time in his young life Marcus would not be the subject of reality TV.[6]

On the same day, Anna gave birth to Marcus's younger sibling, Meredith Grace Duggar. [7]

On August 19, 2015, it was discovered that Josh had been a member of the website Ashley Madison, a service that assisted married people in having affairs.[8] Josh admitted to having cheated on his wife, and just over a week later he checked into rehab for his sex addiction.[9]

After spending some time with Anna's family in Florida, Anna took Marcus and her other children to live with Josh's parents in Arkansas. Although Marcus's uncle, Daniel Keller, offered to pay for Anna and her children to move out to live with him[10], Anna ultimately decided to stay with her husband.

On December 14, 2015, TLC aired a three-part special called Jill & Jessa: Counting On, which focused on the Duggar family moving on after Josh's scandals. In this special, Anna mentioned that she and her daughters were staying in the bedroom with Josh's sisters and her sons were staying in the bedroom with Josh's brothers. Counting On was picked up as a regular series on February 23, 2016. While Anna is frequently featured on the show, Marcus is only seen as a member of the family and is never the primary focus of the show.

On March 10, 2016, Josh left rehab and returned to his family.[11] The family has not revealed where they currently live or what they are doing for income, but based on their frequency on the Duggar family's social media it is assumed they are living somewhere near the family home in Springdale, AR.

On November 16, 2016, TLC aired the first of two Counting On episodes focused on the wedding Marcus's aunt, Jinger Duggar, "Jinger's Wedding". (The second episode, "The Big Day" aired on February 21, 2017). In comparing candid photos of the wedding to the footage from the show, many viewers noticed that the show appeared to be making effort to keep Josh Duggar out of the shot. In times where this was not possible, Marcus was seen being held in front of his father's face.

Doing so is never easy after a breach of trust," the announcement on the Duggar family's website said. On September 12, 2017, Marcus's brother Mason Duggar was born.[13]
