Within two months of leaving “rehab”, in May 2016, Josh had opened yet another used car lot.[1] Unfortunately the car lot was not without its problems. In May 2017, there was an incident involving stolen cars and guns being purchased. In September 2018, The Washington County Fire Marshal issued a final 90 day notice for the car lot to comply with city ordinances before being shut down. In November 2019, the offices were raided by Homeland Security.

In April 2017, Josh’s car lot was involved in a car theft incident. More about that can be found here.

Washington County, where Josh’s business is located, as well as most of the Duggar family members, has “one zoning designation in the county to allow single-family residential or agricultural uses. Anything else requires a conditional use permit to request a zoning change”. Such requests need to be made before the changes are made.

Despite these rules and regulations being in place, Josh ignored them and illegally opened and operated his car lot. The fire marshal informed Josh of these issues multiple times and finally alerted authorities to the illegal activity.

In September 2018 the Washington County Fire Marshal issued his third and final 90 days notice ordering Josh’s car lot to comply with safety regulations and permit requirements, refusing to issue any further extensions and requiring Josh make a “good faith” attempt to get his business into compliance.[2]

On November 1, 2018, the Washington County Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustments met to discuss many things, including Josh’s car lot’s issues.[3] They discussed the issues of fire protection as well as the number of cars allowed on site and screening the business from the adjoining residential property. After said discussions, they approved the plans, saying the permits would finally bring the car lot into compliance with the city regulations.

2019

Although the November 2019 raid was originally believed to be connected to either the Real Estate Scandal or the Money Moving Scandal, it was later revealed to actually be part of the Federal Arrest Scandal.

As of September 2020, google listed the business as permanently closed.
